Although the majority of people go to Phuket for its spectacular beaches and warm waters, the island offers a wide variety of sightseeing options.

Easy Transportation
The splendid infrastructure means that traveling around the large island is easy, and visiting several interesting sights on a day is recommended. The public transport network has a lot to be desired, so hiring a car or motorcycle is easiere and will inevitably be less expensive than using local taxis. Many tour operators provide half - or one-day tours that take the stress out of finding your own way around.

The beaches and islands are very attractive for most people, but it would be a mistake only to focus a trip to Phuket to the beaches and islands along the coast. The interior of the island has much to offer.

National Parks and Waterfalls
For nature lovers, there are national parks and waterfalls where you can enjoy the fabulous tropical environment, opportunities for trekking, and bird-watching. Visitors to the Gibbon Rehabilitation Center can learn about these wonderful monkeys and make a valuable contribution to their survival.

Phuket Town
Phuket Town is a fascinating place to explore on foot and provides insight into the region's rich culture and history. Many of the original Sino-Portuguese buildings have been beautifully restored to their former glory and reflect the wealth of Phuket's tin-mining past. The town's beautiful temples are also a colorful reminder of the strong influence exerted by the immigrant Chinese population.

Traditional or Modern Kind of Ride
Visitors can explore the forest on the back of an elephant or blast along dirt tracks on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). Several companies offer guided tours on these four-wheel bikes through rubber plantations, across hills and even along secluded beaches. For a more down-to-earth and peaceful way to discover Phuket, bicycles are easily hired.
